For the Fall/Winter collection, Morikawa said he was inspired by the idea of merging myths and reality, naming his show \"Fenghuang\" which translates as Phoenix King. Black dominated the collection of pret-a-porter designs, and models showcased tall wedged shoes designed with life-like wings. The finale of the show featured five designs that came in red, blue, black, white and a mesh of gold and black, all featuring lavish lacework and embroidery which the designer said was used to express mythic feathery features. \"In terms of merging (myth and reality), I\'ve merged normal or real-wear clothes and clothes that are not called real-wear clothes, as well as putting them together with Kushino\'s haute couture shoes\" said Morikawa. \"Originally my shoes were mostly inspired by various animals, or mixing different animals, So this time when I heard the theme, Phoenix King, from Morikawa, I thought it was easy to work with and I had my own designs in mind already\" said Masaya Kushino, the shoe designer. \"We tried to find an interesting expression for the show, which I\'m glad ended well\" he added. Born in 1984, Morikawa worked as personal assistant with Charles Anastase before launching own his label \"Christian Dada\" in 2010. He began his first women\'s collection and runway show from the fall/winter collection of 2011, and this is his third time participating in Japan\'s Fashion Week. In 2011, he made his mark by creating the costume for Lady Gaga for her appearance at the MTV Aid Japan Award. The following year, he became one of Lady Gaga\'s costume designers for her world tour. Japan Fashion Week in Tokyo runs through Saturday 23rd of March.
