'3 cups of sugar 1 cup of evaporated milk 2 tablespoons of Karo corn syrup 10 maraschino, (or candied), cherries 8 oz. pitted dates 1 tablespoon of butter 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract 2 cups of pecans Combine first 3 ingredients in a boiler. Cook on medium heat to the soft ball stage. Remove from heat. Add cherries and dates. Mix well. Add vanilla extract. Mix well. Add pecans. Mix by hand until candy becomes very thick. Spoon out on a flour sack towel, or greased freezer paper. Roll up and let cool completely. Coat with powdered sugar.'
