'GET THE BEST PRICE ON THOROGOOD MOC TOES HERE: https://amzn.to/2B0G35S ✪ Check out the 10 Best Boots On the Market! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kuHyyefNGE READ THE FULL REVIEW: https://stridewise.com/thorogood-moc-toe-review/ One of the oldest shoe companies in the United States, Thorogood is based in Wisconsin and is both employee owned and union operated. Their moc toe is probably their best known boot, so what makes it so special? ** FIRST GLANCE ** A classic moccasin toe design is offset by an American flag, Thorogood branding, and a whole lot of stitching along the side of the boot. It’s not exactly subtle, but this isn’t really meant to be a dressy boot. In fact, unlike a lot of other boots that _claim_ to be work boots, these are boots that actually can be used as work boots. Although there’s no steel cap toe the sole is flexible, water resistant, grippy, and insulated against electric shock (to a degree), plus the leather doesn’t require much care. READ THE FULL REVIEW: HTTP://WWW.STRIDEWISE.COM/THOROGOOD-MOC-TOE-REVIEW ** LEATHER ** This is full grain oil tanned leather. When compared to your normal veg tanned or chrome tanned leather, oil tanned is a bit more moist, water resistant, and easy to take care of. Thorogood couldn’t give me any more details about the tanning process — some companies take veg tanned leather and then tan it with castor oil, pine oil, even fish oil. Now, the leather isn’t incredibly good quality. It’s a little thin, there’s some loose grain, it wrinkled pretty quickly. But for this price, I definitely wasn’t disappointed. For general conditioning, Thorogood recommends KG’s Xtreme All Purpose Leather Guard. ** SOLE ** It used to be Christ Vibram but today this is made from Thorogood’s own polyurethane, which they estimate as being 25 percent longer lasting. The company also notes that they can withstand up to 18,000 volts. Some folks say the durability comes with sacrificing some softness and that the newer soles can be harder on folks with joint issues if they’re standing in them all day. I didn’t experience this myself. After the polyurethane there’s a rubber midsole, some cork, a fiberglass shank, and a poron insole, all of which make for a very lightweight boot. There’s also a Goodyear welt, which means the boots can be easily resoled and it means they’re pretty water resistant as well. COMPARE WITH RED WING’S MOC TOE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BY2o8UMf8c0 **FIT & SIZING ** Available in B, D, and EE widths, I found these boots to run a half size large. I’m an 11.5 in boots that fit true to size but the 11 fit me just right. There was no break in and they’re really comfortable boots: lightweight, good arch support, and excellent shock absorption. ** PRICE ** $175 - $195 a pair. That’s very reasonably priced, especially given these are Goodyear welted boots with a shank and full grain leather. ** THE VERDICT ** PROS • Reasonably priced • Lightweight • Leather doesn’t require much care • Durable, grippy sole • Functional as a work boot CONS • Leather aged sort of fast, but it’s fine for the price • No steel toe • Kind of showy • Hard to dress up • Not insulated'
