'(17 Jul 1996) Italian/Eng/Nat Young designers in Italy have been sharing the catwalk with some of the country\'s big fashion houses. Students from the Koefia Fashion Academy displayed their creations along with veterans like Andre Laug and Giancarlo Ripa. For the young designers from the Koefia Fashion Academy this was the moment they had been waiting for - for many it was the first time their creations were exhibited on the catwalk. Even so, all was surprisingly calm backstage as the final preparations were made. SOUNDBITE: (Italian) \"Each student studies line, and displays it using a simple fabric but, for technique, line and structure, our work is very important, so they are dresses before becoming dresses, virtual dresses.\" SUPER CAPTION: Giovanni di Pasquale, director of Koefia Academy) Designer Andre Laug caters for a rather less daring clientele. Despite the fact he has regular shows in Rome, very few Italian women wear his clothes. The price is the big hurdle. The designer says his appeal lies in his classic style. SOUNDBITE: (English) \"I like it classic because you have many people in the mode now, very glamour, very young, I prefer lady.\" SUPER CAPTION: Andre Laug, Haute Couture designer The models also presented designer Giancarlo Ripa who specializes in fur coats. The designer expects some reaction from animal rights groups. SOUNDBITE: (English) \"About ecologists, I\'m...er....er....a little nervous.\" SUPER CAPTION: Giancarlo Ripa, designer The last designer to present his work was Fausto Sarli. The designer has said that his clothes, inspired by the Orient Express, are for aggressive and mysterious women. The audience loved his creations.
