01:12:35 Aug 27, 2021
'For Fashion Revolution Week 2020, Mend It, Australia\'s Karen Ellis chats with Ema Hewitt, Textile Designer of HEW clothing brand at Moonee Valley Virtual Repair Cafe. \"In 2014, Ema Hewitt left the costume design industry to start her own menswear label HEW. What sets HEW apart from other labels is its collaborative design process that invites local artists to curate the aesthetics of the textiles. A swing-tag attached to each HEW garment unveils the name of the respective designer. This connection between customer and creator adds a more personal touch to the consumer experience and fosters a local creative community. Remaining an independent label, HEW only collaborates with local artists in Melbourne and produces a range of their products locally.\" Facebook: @hewthelabel Instagram: @hew_clothing contact@hewclothing.com This interview took place via Zoom during the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic and flexible lock down in Melbourne.
