'In this week\'s episode, we are giving you tips on how to be a fashion activist just in time for Fashion Revolution Week, April 22-29. Join us in this global movement to change the fashion industry for the better. So, how can you be a fashion activist? 1) Do your research. It\'s easy to be quite far removed from the story behind the item you\'re buying. You can Google \"brand name + sustainability\" in order to find out information about what positive measures the brand is taking to support sustainability. 2) Ask questions. What kind of questions should you be asking? When you do your research, you will begin to uncover the story and find out valuable information. For example, where are the clothes/accessories being made? What are the working conditions of the workers? Is the company operating in a fair trade or closed loop manner? Is there any information about the fibers? Are they upcycling or repurposing their items? Any questions that you ask that could help you uncover the story, will help you understand the mission of the brand and connect you better to what you\'re wearing. This way you can be empowered to make decisions and buy from brands you are extremely aligned with. 3) Use your voice. We each have incredible power as consumers to change how the industry operates. Demand=supply, so if we continue to demand fast fashion, that is what the industry will supply. However, if we choose products that respect the planet and people who made them, that is what companies will create instead. How to use your voice? Use the hashtag #whomademyclothes? during Fashion Revolution week and tag your favorite brand on social media and encourage them to answer this question. Another way is to share anything you read online/any news to others through social and spread the word about what is really happening in fashion. The third way to use your voice is to write a letter to your favorite brand. If you want to learn more about how to structure this letter, read our article on Eco Warrior Princess that breaks it down quite simply: https://ecowarriorprincess.net/2018/01/how-to-write-an-email-letter-to-a-fashion-brand-if-youre-seeking-more-transparency/ This article also sums up what was said in this video on how to be an ethical fashion influencer: https://ecowarriorprincess.net/2018/01/3-practical-ways-to-be-a-better-ethical-fashion-influencer-and-create-meaningful-change/ Cassandra is wearing Chic Made Consciously\'s FEATHER earrings: https://www.chicmadeconsciously.com/collections/earrings/products/faithful-feather-earrings Filmed & Edited by Luiza Ferro https://www.instagram.com/luizaferro/'
