'The most lust-worthy designs at New York Fashion Week are true works of art — which makes it fitting that Marchesa\'s latest collection was inspired by a different kind of artist, painter John Singer Sargent. Designers Georgina Champman and Keren Craig channeled the \'seductive, empowered feminine nature\' of the turn-of-the-century American artist\'s portraits, swathing models in tulle, ethereal silk organza, marabou feathers, cascading lace, and hand-embroidered 3D florals. They turned up the glamour, too, catching the light with dramatic bugle beading, elegant pearls, brocade-like golden threading, and intricate jewel details. The combination resulted in a beautiful, dreamlike show Wednesday evening that emitted literal gasps from those in attendance. Stars including Olivia Palermo, Anna Wintour (inset), Harvey Weinstein (inset), and Coco Rocha sat in the front row.
