'(13 Sep 2017) MARCHESA INSPIRED BY ADVENTURES OF AN HEIRESS FOR LATEST RUNWAY SHOW Design duo Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman say they were were inspired by the travels of an heiress adventurer when dreaming up their latest collection. \"We were looking at a rather incredible Edwardian (era) woman called Aimee Crocker who wrote a book called \'I\'d do it Again\' and she had a rather fabulous life,\" said Craig backstage Wednesday (13 SEPT. 2017) before their show at New York Fashion Week. \"She was an amazing adventurer and traveler, she was obsessed with the far east so she had lots of travels and we focused a little bit into the Japanese side of her story so you\'ll see little nods of obis.\" \"Ultimately it\'s a very quintessentially Marchesa collection,\" added Chapman. \"I think we view our collections as a storybook continuing from one season to the next without a blunt stop start. Our pieces we want to see as timeless, not as pieces that are done for the season. Pieces that people will hopefully keep forever. So, you know, they\'re romantic, they\'re ethereal, they\'re very quintessentially Marchesa.\" Looks on the runway featured a one shoulder ball grown in blush to rose ombre with 3D feather flowers and velvet ribbon detail and a plunging neckline tulle gown with cape sleeves and pearl necklace embroidery. There was also an ivory cocktail dress with satin bodice and an ostrich feather skirt. Craig and Chapman co-founded the Marchesa label in 2004. \"It makes it so much easier working with your best friend,\" said Craig. because, you know what? We always have a laugh together so I think that always takes the edge off. Being great friends. We can have a giggle and sometimes something gets really stressful then you can just end up laughing about it and being like, \"Well this is a ridiculous situation.\'\" The brand is also a fan among celebrities. Actresses Jennifer Morrison, Victoria Justice, Dylan Penn, Olivia Culpo and Nina Dobrev sat front row. Dobrev described the show afterward as \"beautiful.\" So with its famous following, will Marchesa be dressing anyone for the Emmys? Chapman and Craig aren\'t saying. \"I think the red carpet is gonna be very exciting on Sunday so fingers crossed someone\'s in Marchesa,\" said Craig.
