'Balmain Spring/Summer 2016 Womenswear Show October 1 2015, Paris Discover more on: http://www.balmain.com With each fashion season seeming now to blend seamlessly into the next, few of us have the time needed to sit back and critique previous collections. Recently, though, I’ve been lucky. H&M and I have been preparing for our soon-to-be-released collaboration that riffs on highlights from Balmain’s past eight seasons—and creating that retrospective range has helped make it very clear that all our hard work over the last four years has resulted in the construction of a unique Balmain DNA. The Parisian house\'s style and attitude is quickly identified whenever worn by a member of Balmain’s strong and confident army. For spring 2016, my aim is to consolidate that recent progress, while pushing Balmain forward, in a bold exploration of new possibilities. You’ll recognize the house’s now signature pairing of a strong silhouettes and couture techniques, while noting the addition of distinctly lighter fabrics, an entirely new palette and an overall sleek spirit. While this fifteen-minute presentation is designed to create strong impressions and reactions, it’s during the upcoming six months when the designs will truly make their mark. Social media\'s embrace of Balmain will provide us with daily reminders of the excitement of those who have found a new way to bypass traditional gatekeepers. And, with an ever-more diverse group of beautiful women of all ages and backgrounds—from film and music icons to eager young shoppers at one of the world’s largest retail chains—choosing Balmain for their most important moments, it will be clear that this historic house’s evolution continues along an exciting pathway.
