'Behind the Scenes with NOORISM at Fashion Week Brooklyn https://www.upcycledesignschool.com/post/behind-the-scenes-with-noorism-at-fashion-week-brooklyn A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to show my NOORISM collection at Fashion Week Brooklyn. I had been wanting to do a fashion show for a few years yet I couldn\'t really justify the cost. As a small brand, I have to be very careful about where my resources get spent. This opportunity came about through a non-profit I am part of called Made in NYC. They were able to secure a grant through the Garment District Alliance and since I produce in the garment district, I was able to qualify! I didn\'t know what to expect since I had never attended one of their shows before but it was so much fun!! The event was extremely organized as they have been doing this for about 15 years now! I decided to show 10 looks and was given 10 beautiful and diverse models. The models were volunteers but were all very professional and excited to be there. Fashion Week Brooklyn was founded by the non-profit Brooklyn Style Foundation. Their mission is to assist emerging, underprivileged designers in honing their talent and growing their business, and to provide a professional forum to showcase their creations alongside other emerging designers from around the globe. Rick Davy is the founder behind both the non-profit and Fashion Week Brooklyn. While we were backstage, I had the opportunity to sit down with him and ask him a few questions.
