'Japan has many \"kimono taiken\" meaning \"kimono experience\" places that welcome tourists from abroad and Japan to try on traditional and sometimes historical dresses. I went to several of those places in Shimonoseki and Mojiko. We will try on 3 Japanese dresses and talk a little about them. Some of you might be worried if foreigners can wear a kimono or if it is cultural appropriation. In fact, in my 7 years in Japan, I have yet to find a single person who have said anything negative about gaijin / foreigners wearing kimono. It\'s about cultural appreciation not appropriation, and the Japanese staff will make sure you wear it right. Most importantly, however, is that you get them professionally fitted and treat the garments with respect. Wearing it the RIGHT way is very important. When wearing kimono, please be reminded that a simple bathrobe in silk does not classify as kimono. Kimono literally mean \"thing to wear\" and are Japanese traditional clothes and each of them holds a piece of history and their own stories.
